It’s important to think about how people will move about your space and make an addition that enhances that flow (not hinders it). Oftentimes, this is why people may have a fire pit in a separate area, where it won’t get in the way when not in use.

Seating is also a big consideration when thinking about a fire pit.

The wall can help make the space feel cozy and intimate, making it a great gathering area for friends and family to hang out. You might even be able to add pillows or cushions to make the space even more comfortable for everyone.
#3: Before Adding a Fire Pit to Your Landscape, Think about the Shape
As you know, most fire pits are round. This is because the idea of a fire pit is to sit around it. Naturally, that means most fire pits are going to be a circle.
However, a square-shaped fire pit can fit neatly into a small, square patio and is another option to consider.
A square fit pit has a bit more of a modern look and might be a better choice depending on the architectural details of your home and outdoor space.
If your space has more linear edges, a square fit pit might be the way to go. You might be able to fit a couch into a space like this (whereas the linear lines of a couch might not work as well with a round fire pit).
If you have a linear pool near your fire pit, it might also complement the space well. But keep in mind that a square fire pit will likely accommodate fewer people than a circular one (where everyone can gather around).
However, if you are looking at creating a more intimate space, a square fire pit may be perfect.
